One Republic - Counting Stars

   61 edycja International Championships zbliża się wielkimi krokami... 1, 2 i 3 października większa część tanecznego świata spotka się w Londynie, aby tu przeżyć jeden z najważniejszych turniejów tańca towarzyskiego w roku. We wtorek i w środę w Brentwood rozegrane zostaną rundy eliminacyjne zawodowców i amatorów (niektórzy zagwarantowali sobie zwolnienie z eliminacji zeszłorocznym wynikiem - gwiazdki) oraz całe turnieje kategorii dziecięcych, młodzieżowych i wschodzących gwiazd. W czwartek wyłonieni zostaną najlepsi spośród par zawodowych i amatorskich w stylu standardowym i latynoamerykańskim. Głównym organizatorem tego turnieju jest Dance News Special Projects Ltd. Panele sędziowskie składają się z 17 fachowców, jednak są zmienne, tzn. jeden panel sędziuje 1/8 i 1/2 finału, drugi natomiast 1/4 i finał. Dodatkowo panele sędziowskie dobrane są oddzielnie do dwóch stylów tanecznych. Ponadto turniej ten jest rozgrywany w bardzo interesujący dla publiczności sposób. Mianowicie zamiast tradycyjnej formuły rozgrywania finałów zastosowano innowacyjne podejście i standard przeplatany jest z łaciną. Oznacza to, że po walcu angielskim tańczona jest chacha, po tangu samba, po walcu wiedeńskim rumba, itd... Mi osobiście takie rozwiązanie bardzo przypadło do gustu ;p Ale to co w International'u kocham najbardziej to oczywiście The Royal Albert Hall w Londynie <3<3<3 Miejsce jedyne w swoim rodzaju, niepowtarzalne i totalnie magiczne. Jak w czasie swojego koncertu wykrzyczała Adele: "Royal Albert Fu*king Hall" tak chyba najlepiej można określić to miejsce!!! Prowadzącymi turniej są Colin James i Karen Hardy. Za muzykę odpowiedzialny jest Ross Mitchell i jego Dance & Listen Orchestra. Już nie mogę się doczekać!!! ^^

   The 61st edition of International Championships is really close... 1st, 2nd and 3rd October most of the dancers will meet in London to be the part of this competition, which is one of the biggest and most important comps in the world. On Tuesday and Wednesday in Brentwood the comp will start. It will include these categories: children, youth, rising stars and first rounds of professionals and amateurs. Some couples do not have to dance the elimination rounds (exemptions), because of their past results. On Thursday we will get know the winners of professionals and amateurs in both: ballroom and latin. The main organiser of this event is Dance News Special Projects Ltd. There are many panels od adjudicators, but they consist of 17 judges. The first panel will judge 1/8 and semi-final and the second one will give marks in 1/4 and final. Additionally there will be different panels for ballroom and latin. The competition is run in a very interesting way, especially for the audience. Instead of dancing normal finals, ballroom is mixed with latin. It means that after waltz there is chacha, after tango samba, after viennese waltz rumba and so on... I have to admit that I love this idea ;p But what I love about the International the most is The Royal Albert Hall of course <3<3<3 There is no other place like that, it is unbelievable, breathtaking and sooo magical. "Royal Albert Fuc*ing Hall" - this is how Adele described this venue during her concert and I totally agree with her!!! Colin James and Karen Hardy are responsible for commentating the comp and Ross Mitchell and his Dance & Listen Orchestra play the fabolous music. I cannot wait!!! ^^

   Tyumen – Syberia – Rosja – jak na swoim profilu na Instagramie napisał Michał Malitowski „Zimno, ale na bogato” ;) Po długiej podróży, zmianie czasu i porannym lądowaniu przywitał nas wiatr, mróz i niedobre jedzenie. Na szczęście mieliśmy cały dzień, żeby się wyspać i przygotować do startu. Złote Wrota Syberii to turniej, który swoją pierwszą edycję przeżył rok temu. W tym roku organizatorzy Luca Tonello i Ekaterina Barulina postawili na wysokie nagrody finansowe (łączna pula nagród wynosiła 1.000.000 euro) i tym samym przyciągnęli dużą ilość par z całego świata. Od samego początku na temat turnieju krążyły plotki: „Nagród wcale nie będzie”, „Pary z dwóch federacji: WDC i WDSF”, „13 sędziów z 13 państw”… I jak to zawsze bywa w każdej plotce jest odrobinę prawdy! Panel sędziowski był dość „wyszukany” :p, pojawiło się kilku śmiałków z WDSFu (ciekawe czy zostaną zawieszeni), nagrody finansowe na szczęście były – jedyna różnica wypłacone w rublach, zamiast w euro ^^ Ogólne wrażenie pozytywne, niezawodny polski team, fajna sala i parkiet, brak ciepłej wody w hotelu, dziwne puchary (niektórym przypominały urny) i duuużo fanu!!! A przede wszystkim nie była to zwykła podróż – była to podróż w czasie – cofnęliśmy się co najmniej o 20 lat… ;))

   Tyumen - Siberia - Russia - as Michał Malitowski wrote on his Instagram "Cold but queenly" ;) After a long journey, time changing and morning landing we were welcomed by wind, frost and awful food. Luckily we had all day long to sleep and prepare for the comp. The Golden Gate Open Dance Festival is a competition which was held for the first time one year ago. This year the organisers Luca Tonello and Ekaterina Barulina stood up on high prize money (1.000.000 euro) and that is why they managed to invite a lot of couples from all over the world. From the early start there were some gossips abut this comp: "There will be no prize money", "Couples from both federations: WDC and WDSF", "13 judges from 13 countries"... And every gossip has a little bit of the truth! The panel of adjudicators was quite "unique" :p, there were some couples from WDSF (it is interesting if they will be banned), the prize money were payed, however not in euros but in rubles ^^ My general impression is positive: great, unfailing polish team, cool venue and big floor, no hot water in the hotel, strange cups (similar to urns) and lots of fun!!! And what is the most important thing - it was not a normal journey - it was a time journey - we were back at least 20 years in the past... ;))

   Some time ago I prepared a post entitled "Help and fun" for you. I think you really liked the post, because you asked me a lot of questions. That is why today I present a second part, which will also show you how to use everyday stuff in your practice. Have fun!!! =))

1) Krawat - przełożony przez prawe ramię partnerki pozwala partnerowi pozostać nad partnerką i po swojej stronie / Tie - placed on the right shoulder of a lady dancer will help a boy to stay on his side and above the partner

2) Kapelusz - ubrany na głowę w czasie treningu ułatwia wyciąganie się w górę i trzymanie pionu, szczególnie przydatny w pozycji promenady, używany przez Bill'a i Bobbie Irvine / Hat - when on a head while practicing it helps to strech up and stay vertical, especially useful in promenade position, used by Bill and Bobbie Irvine

3) Kartki - włożone pod buty taneczne pozwalają utrzymać ciągły kontakt z parkietem i odpowiedni nacisk / Sheets of paper - slipped under the dance shoes allow us to keep constant connection to the floor and proper pressure

4) Rękawiczki - ubrane na dłonie podczas treningu wyostrzają naszą świadomość tej części ciała, używane głównie w tańcach latynoamerykańskich / Gloves - worn on the hands during practice make us more aware of these parts of our body, used mainly in Latin

5) iPhone - kamera, aparat, filmy, zdjęcia, nagrywanie, oglądanie i tak non stop ;)) / iPhone - camera, photo camera, movies, photos, recording, watching and over and over again ;))

6) Skarpety - obowiązkowe grube i ciepłe, przed treningiem rozgrzewają stopy i chronią je przed kontuzją / Socks - thick and warm, before the practice they make your feet warmed up and prevent from any contusions

7) Chusteczki higieniczne - odpowiednio ułożone w lewej dłoni partnera pomagają w prawidłowym ustawieniu nadgarstka / Tissues - when correctly held in the left hand of a boy they help in a good wrist position

8) Butelka wody mineralnej - włożona pomiędzy prawy bark partnera a jego prawą dłoń utrzyma rękę w odpowiedniej pozycji / Bottle of mineral water - placed between the right shoulder of a boy and his right hand will hold the whole arm in a proper position

Marvin Gaye - Got to give it up (Pt. 1)

   Jak się okazało w sobotę 7 września br ustalić jak wygląda dzień Marka i Kingi wcale nie jest łatwo... ;)) A to dlatego, że nie lubią stereotypów i szablonów, nie mają swoich rytuałów oraz nie ma rzeczy, które zawsze na nich działają. Marek nie szykuje się w żaden szczególny sposób do swoich celów, nawet do turniejów, życie traktuje jak drogę, proces, a nie przeznaczenie. Podobnie jest z Kingą. Podczas studiów (psychologia na UW) liczył się dla niej sam proces studiowania, wykłady, znajomi a nie tytuł i dyplom magistra, który dla większości jest jednak celem samym w sobie. Wracając jednak do planu dnia... Marek wstaje koło godziny 9:00, Kinia z resztą też, ale podobno budzi się dopiero koło 13:00! :)) Jak tylko wyjdzie z łóżka wstawia wodę na kawę. Najczęściej bierze kąpiel w wannie (80% czasu), w 20% jednak decyduje się na prysznic. Włosów prawie nigdy nie suszy suszarką (nigdy ich też nie farbowała), później bierze się za przygotowanie śniadania - to jeden z jej obowiązków. Marek raz w życiu był odpowiedzialny za śniadanie i przyniósł je z pobliskiego baru ((; A jeśli już jesteśmy przy pracach domowych to Marek pierze, a Kinga prasuje i gotuje - o sprzątaniu nikt nie wspomniał... ;p Koło południa rozpoczynają swój trening własny, podczas którego Kinga obowiązkowo musi pić wodę mineralną niegazowaną. Zgodnie stwierdzili, że kochają trenować i w czasie treningów starają się skupiać każdy na sobie. Są szczęśliwi, że odnaleźli swoją pasję. Po treningu przychodzi czas na pracę. Przeciętnie udzielają 4 lekcji dziennie. Oprócz tego poświęcają godzinę tygodniowo na zajęcia siłowe z trenerem personalnym. Stołują się poza domem, chętnie odwiedzają knajpki przy ulicy Poznańskiej w Warszawie (Bejrut). Po południu lub wieczorem lubią spotykać się ze znajomymi. Wtedy wybierają miejsca nad Wisłą takie jak: Pomost, Cud nad Wisłą. Na zakupy natomiast wybierają się na ulicę Mokotowską, gdyż bardzo lubią klimat tej części miasta. Jak sami mówią nie szkoda im pieniędzy na: dobre lekcje tańca, podróże, perfumy, ciuchy (Roberta Kupisza) i dobre jedzenie... Nie trawią cebuli, czosnku i szczypiorku, Kinga dorzuciła jeszcze por. Kiedy mają więcej czasu wolnego chętnie imprezują. Po prostu uwielbiają dobrą zabawę i wygłupy. Jeśli alkohol to tylko whisky lub wino, Kinga od czasu do czasu skusi się też na wódkę! =)) W ich domu znaleźć można skrzynię pełną czapek Marka - po prostu je ubóstwia - od wełnianych, przez baseballówki, zimowe z pomponami, po te z daszkiem. Kinga kolekcjonuje okulary i buty. Ma mnóstwo szpilek (meeega wysokich), choć najczęściej chodzi w płaskim obuwiu. Marek kocha kolekcjonować książki, gdyż uwielbia ich zapach oraz płyty kompaktowe, bo dzień bez muzyki to dzień stracony. Kupuje około 20 utworów z iTunes'a tygodniowo i wypala dokładnie 7 papierosów dziennie. W ich mieszkaniu spotkać można 3 zwierzaki: kota - tablicę, pingwina - figurkę z plastiku, którego kupili podczas ostatniego turnieju w WDSFie i gęś urzędującą na balkonie. Kinga zdecydowanie woli Instagram od Facebook'a. Interesuje się modą, więc chętnie ogląda Fashion TV, stare teledyski muzyczne, albumy modowe i często odwiedza stronę www.style.com. Oprócz tego lubi poświęcać swój czas architekturze miast i wnętrz. Oboje czują się artystami, a nie sportowcami. W życiu jak i w tańcu poszukują ludzi z wyrazistymi osobowościami. Inspiracji szukają w tanecznych latach 90. Podczas wywiadu doszli do wniosku, że im dłużej tańczą, tym mniej trenują. Używają swoich ukochanych butów RayRose i szyją około 7 sukienek rocznie u zaprzyjaźnionej krawcowej Anety. Średnio biorą 15 lekcji miesięcznie u swoich trenerów, choć liczba ta jest bardzo zmienna. Ich ulubiony turniej to Mistrzostwa Świata 1998 i magiczny występ Donnie'go Burns'a. Uwielbiają razem podróżować - kochają Londyn (Bricklane, Covent Garden), Jastarnię oraz Nowy Jork, choć byli w nim dopiero raz. Jeśli chodzi o plany i marzenia Marek wykrzyczał tajemnicze 3S: splendor, sukces, sława. Lubi się czuć doceniony przez innych, a otaczanie się swoimi fanami sprawia mu ogromną frajdę. Kinia wymieniła tu trzy kluczowe słowa: spełnienie, samoświadomość, samozadowolenie... O sobie nawzajem powiedzieli: Kinga: "Marek to miłość mojego życia", Marek: "Nigdy w życiu nie poznałem tak barwnej, interesującej i inspirującej osoby jak Kinga" <3 Najśmieszniejsza rzecz jaką kiedykolwiek o sobie usłyszeli to, że prowadzą otwarty związek... A na koniec ich przesłanie dla wszystkich tancerzy: "Odnajdźcie w sobie dobre strony, nazwijcie je i pokażcie innym!"

   It is not very easy to work out the average day of Marek and Kinga (I could find it out on Saturday 7th September)... ;)) And it is because they don't like stereotypes and cliches, they don't have rituals and nothing stimulates them every single time. Marek does not prepare for his goals in any special way, even for the comps, he treats life like a journey and process and not like a destination. It is same with Kinga. During her studies (psychology, University of Warsaw) she was concentrated on the lectures, people and not on a master's degree and diploma, which are for most of the people the main aims. But coming back to their schedule... Marek gets up at about 9 a.m. and so does Kinga but apparently she wakes up only at 1 p.m.! :)) As soon as she leaves her bed she prepares coffee. Most of the time she takes bath (80%) but sometimes (20%) she decides to take shower. She hardly ever uses hairdryer (also she has never dyed her hair), then she prepares breakfast - this is one of her duties. It was once in a lifetime when Marek was responsible for the breakfast and he brought it from the nearest bar ((; And if we talk about home duties, Marek launders and Kinga cooks and irons - nobody mentioned cleaning... ;p About midday they start practice. Kinga needs to drink still mineral water during training. They both agreed that they love to practice and they try to focus on each other. They are really happy that they have managed to find their passion. After practice there is time for work. They teach average 4 lessons a day. Apart from that they spend one hour a week with their personal trainer. They eat out and willingly visit restaurants on Poznanska Street in Warsaw (Bejrut). In the afternoon they like to meet with friends. Then they choose places near Wisła like: Pomost, Cud nad Wisłą. When they want to do shopping they go to Mokotowska Street, because they like the mood of this part of the city. As they both agreed they do not spare on: good dance lessons, journeys, perfumes, clothes (Robert Kupisz) and good food... They hate onion, garlic and chives, Kinga added leek. In the free time they love to party. They couldn't live without having fun and amusement. If alcohol, only whisky and wine, Kinga sometimes tempts on vodka! =)) In their house you can find a huge case with Marek's caps - he simply adores them - from baseball caps, through winter with bobbles ending on peaked ones. Kinga collects glasses and shoes. He has plenty of high-heels (really high), however most of the time she wears flat boots. Marek loves to gather books, because he loves their smell and CDs because he cannot imagine even one day without music. He buys about 20 iTunes singles a week and he smokes exacly 7 cigarettes a day. In their flat there are 3 animals: a cat - blackboard, a pinguin - a plastic figurine (it was bought after their last comp in WDSF) and a goose which lives on a balcony. Kinga prefers Instagram to Facebook. She is interested in fashion that is why she gladly watches Fashion TV, old videoclips, fashion albums and she visits very often website www.fashion.com. Apart from that she likes to spend some time on architecture of apartments and cities. They both feel as artists not athletes. In life and in dancing they look for people with expressive personalities. They find their inspiration in the dancing 90.. During the interview they found out that the longer they dance the less they practice. They use their favourites dancing shoes RayRose and they make 7 dresses a year with some help from they close friend and dress-maker Aneta. They take about 15 lessons per month but it changes slightly from time to time. The World Championships 1996 is their favourite comp, especially the magical show of Donnie Burns. They love to travel together - they like London (Bricklane, Covent Garden), Jastarnia and New York, although they have been there only once. When it comes to plans and dreams Marek shouted the magical 3 words: glamour, fame and success. He likes to be appreciated by others. Kinia chose those three words: fulfillment, complacency and self-consciousness... About each other they said: Kinga: "Marek is the love of my life", Marek: "I have never meet as inspiring, interesting and colourful person as Kinga in my life" <3 The funniest thing they have ever heared about themselves - we have an open relationship... And in the end their message to all the dancers: "Find your advantages, name them and show them to others!"

   WDC - World Dance Council - to światowa organizacja tańca towarzyskiego. W jej skład wchodzą: Komitet Światowego Tańca Turniejowego oraz Komitet Światowego Tańca Socjalnego. Pierwsza część organizacji odpowiada za zawodowy taniec turniejowy, druga natomiast za szkoły i nauczycieli tańca. Historia the World Dance Council Ltd sięga 22 września 1950r., kiedy to w Szkocji w Edynburgu założono firmę. Poprzednie nazwy WDC to: the International Council of Ballroom Dacing - ICBD, a także the World Dance & Dance Sport Council Ltd - WD&DSC. Firma została założona przez 22 zawodowców z 12 państw. WDC za główne cele postawiło sobie promocję i rozwój tańca pośród swoich członków. Członkowie WDC raz na 3 lata wybierają Prezydium. WDC posiada około 75 organizacji członkowskich. WDC oferuje 4 typy członkostwa i kwestię jego wyboru pozostawia zainteresowanym. Prezydentem firmy jest Donnie Burns MBE, a do zarządu wchodzą jeszcze: Fred Bijster, Svein Rotvold, Brain MacDonald, Isao Nakagawa, Steve Powell, Jack Rothweiler, Rudi Trautz... Głównym sekretarzem WDC jest Hannes Emrich. WDC posiada swój własny światowy ranking najlepszych par tanecznych i w każdy weekend organizuje imprezy taneczne pod swoim szyldem. Cały czas stopniowo się rozwija i poszerza zasięg swych odbiorców. Sprawami par amatorskich zajmuje się WDC Al Amateur League, na czele z prezesem Sammy'm Stopford'em.    WDC - World Dance Council is a world organisation for ballroom dancers. It consists of: World Competitive Dance Committee and World Social Dance Committee. The first part of the company is responsible for professional competitive dancing and the second one for dance schools and dance teachers. The history of the World Dance Council Ltd started  on 22nd September 1950 in Scotland (Edinburgh), when the company was established. These are the previous names of WDC: the International Council of Ballroom Dancing (ICBD) and the World Dance & Dance Sport Council Ltd (WD&DSC). A small group of 22 professionals from 12 countries was responsible for creating WDC. The aims of the council are to encourage and promote dancing through its membership. The members elect the Presidium every 3 years. WDC consists of almost 75 independent members. WDC offers 4 types of membership and leaves the choice to the interested. The President of WDC is Mr Donnie Burns MBE, and the board of directors icludes: Mr Fred Bijster, Mr Svein Rotvold, Mr Brain MacDonald, Mr Isao Nakagawa, Mr Steve Powell, Mr Jack Rothweiler, Mr Rudi Trautz... Mr Hannes Emrich is the company and general secretary of WDC. This federation has got its own international ranking list of the best couples in the world. Every weekend there is a possibility to take part in one of many international comps all over the world under the rules of WDC. WDC is getting bigger and bigger and it develops really fast especially lately. WDC Al Amateur League is responsible for amateur couples and Mr Sammy Stopford is its chairman. Rihanna - We found love

   WDSF - World Dance Sport Federation to międzynarodowa organizacja tańca sportowego. Można powiedzieć, że jej historia sięga 1935r. kiedy to w Czechach 9 europejskich państw stworzyło jej szkielet. W 1990r. federacja przyjęła nową nazwę IDSF - International Dance Sport Federation, którą posługiwała się aż do 2011r. Wtedy to ostatecznie przyjęto obecną nazwę WDSF. Państwa, które początkowo wysunęły się na pierwszy plan to: Anglia oraz Niemcy. Warto zaznaczyć, że od początku swojej działalności federacja konkurowała z federacją zawodową... Za cel postawiła sobie zbliżyć taniec towarzyski na ile to jest możliwe do sportu. WDSF dba o to, aby transmitować turnieje w telewizji. W związku z tym zmienił zasady oceniania par oraz wprowadził tańce solowe w finale. WDSF stworzył również komisję antydopingową, która ma czuwać nad sprawiedliwym przebiegiem imprez tanecznych. Federacja ta posiada swój własny ranking najlepszych par na świecie. WDSF posiada około 100 państw członkowskich i nieustannie się rozwija. Utworzył cykl światowych turniejów tańca towarzyskiego, tak zwanych Grand Slamów, które cieszą się ogromną popularnością i renomą. Obecnie próbuje reformować rynek taneczny, wprowadzając karty identyfikacyjne dla każdego tancerza. WDSF obecny jest również na rynku polskim. W każdy weekend na całym świecie odbywają się turnieje tańca towarzyskiego pod szyldem WDSFu. Ostatnio mieliśmy okazję obejrzeć w telewizji na EuroSport 2 jeden z Grand Slamów - GOC - German Open Championships, odbywający się w Stuttgarcie w Niemczech.    WDSF - World Dance Sport Federation is an international organisation for ballroom dancers. Its history has started in 1935, when 9 european countries joined together in Czech Republic. In 1990 the federation chose new name IDSF - International Dance Sport Federation and had been using it up to 2011. This was when the board of directors decided to change the name for WDSF. 2 countries were main players from the beginning: England and Germany. From an early start WDSF faced persisting difficulties in the attempt to reconcile with the organisation of the professional dancers... The main goal was to make ballroom dancing as similar to sport as possible. WDSF tries to show competitions in the TV. That is why a new judging system and solo dances in the final were introduced. WDSF created an Anti-Doping Commission, which should take care of fair-play rules and regulations. This federation has got its own international ranking list of the best couples in the world. There are almost 100 member-countries in WDSF and the organisation is getting bigger and bigger all the time. WDSF introduced a cycle of huge international comps  - GS - Grand Slams, which are really popular and prestigious. Nowadays WDSF tries to reform the market of ballroom dancers and launches Id-Cards for every single competitor. WDSF exists also on polish dancing market. Every weekend there is a possibility to take part in one of many international comps all over the world under the WDSF rules. Some time ago there was a chance to watch on the TV (EuroSport 2) one of the GSs - GOC - German Open Championships, which was held in Stuttgart (Germany).
