   Walc – w Polsce powszechnie nazywany walcem angielskim, w sumie nie wiem dlaczego, bo za granicą „English Waltz'em” nie jest. Jego ślady po raz pierwszy odnajdujemy w 1917 roku. W 1922 został powszechnie i społecznie zaakceptowany jako taniec turniejowy. Na początku obracano się w nim tylko i wyłącznie w lewą stronę, stąd nazwa „Round Waltz”. Później stopniowo dodano obroty w prawo, tańczone tylko po diagonalach i wprowadzono nową nazwę „Diagonal Waltz”. Wraz z biegiem czasu odkrywano nowe kroki, wariacje oraz figury, urozmaicając tym samym podstawowy repertuar. Następnie spisano wszystko w książce i stworzono technikę walca angielskiego – uniwersalną na całym świecie.

   The Waltz - we can find its tracks for the first time back in 1917. In 1922 it became a competitive dance. At the beginning people used to turn only to the left and this is how the name "Round Waltz" was created. Then the right turns were added, but they were danced only on the diagonal lines so the new name "Diagonal Waltz" was introduced. While time was passing, new steps, variations and figures were developed, which has enlarged the basic repertoire. Finally, everything was written down in a book and this is how the new technique of the Waltz was invented. Nowadays, it is same and universal all over the world.
