   Historia zarówno Foxtrota jak i Quickstepa sięga roku 1912. To właśnie wtedy małżeństwo Vernon'a i Irene Castle zaprezentowało te tańce po raz pierwszy podczas ich trasy koncertowej. Dalsze ulepszenia i przekształcenia doprowadziły do powstania tak zwanego Quicktime-Foxtrot'a. Kopiowanie znanych ruchów popularnego Harry'ego Fox'a zapoczątkowały nazwę tego tańca. Następnie wyodrębnienie dwóch wersji: szybszej i wolniejszej spowodowało narodziny Quickstepa i Foxtrota, jakie znamy w obecnych czasach. Tak więc rok 1917 można uznać za przełomowy i zakwalifikować go jako rok narodzin Foxtrota turniejowego. Od tego czasu muzyka do Foxtrota była stopniowo zwalniana, co sprawiło, że ten taniec zaliczany jest do najtrudniejszych na świecie. Pierwsze oficjalne zapisanie techniki Foxtrota nastąpiło w 1924r. Feather Step i Feather Finish - najpopularniejsze figury foxtrotowe, tańczone w pozycji "outside partner", powstały przez przypadek pod wpływem zaczepiania się jednego lakierka partnera o drugi. Do dnia dzisiejszego po tanecznym świecie krąży takie przysłowie: "Pokaż mi swojego Foxtrota, a powiem Ci jakim tancerzem jesteś".

   The tracks of Foxtrot and Quickstep were found in 1912. It is when a marriage of Vernon and Irene Castle demonstrated these dances during their tour. Further developments brought Quicktime-Foxtrot on. The name "Foxtrot" was used after very famous Broadway actor Harry Fox, whose movements were widely imitated in this dance. Out of the Quicktime-Foxtrot two variations emerged: fast - Quickstep and slow - Foxtrot. 1917 is generally known as the year of birth for Foxtrot. From this date the music of the Foxtrot had been slowed down and this is why Foxtrot is one of the most difficult dances all over the world. The first official technique of Foxtrot was written in 1924. Feather Step and Feather Finish - the most popular figures of Foxtrot (danced in "outside partner" position) were invented because of an unfortunate  accident - sticking together of the patent shoes of a man. There is even one very popular phrase in the dancing world concerning this dance: "Show me your Foxtrot and I will tell you what type of dancer you are".
